Alexis Neophytides is a documentary filmmaker based in New York City. She co-directed Fire Through Dry Grass with Andres “Jay” Molina, a New York Times Critic’s Pick that premiered at BlackStar (Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature) and aired nationally on POV/PBS. Her debut feature, Dear Thirteen, premiered at DOC NYC and is distributed by Journeyman Pictures and Grasshopper Film. She is currently in post-production on her third feature documentary, American Fall.
Alexis is the co-creator and co-director of the Emmy-nominated series Neighborhood Slice and directed the NY Emmy–winning series 9.99. Her work has been supported by ITVS, the Ford Foundation, Field of Vision, IDA, Perspective Fund, Fork Films, Working Films, NYSCA, and the NYC Women’s Fund, and she is a Sundance Documentary Film Program grantee.
She has taught and developed community-based filmmaking programs across New York City, including at The TEAK Fellowship and OPEN DOORS. She holds a BA from Brown University and an MA in Media Studies from The New School.
